The design of Rio de Janeiro is synonymous of research, creativity, innovation, respect for the environment.

So many meanings that can be summarized in two main concepts: technology and sustainability. These are the main threads of the seventh edition of the Rio + Design, during the Salone Internazionale del Mobile Milan, from the 14 19 April.

The exhibition is an initiative of the Government of the State of Rio de Janeiro, through laSegreteria Economic Development, in collaboration with Sebrae-RJ, Apex and FIRJAN.

In the always bustling Zona Tortona – wrapped in a setting characterized by bright colors and eye-catching images of Rio de Janeiro, designed by Guto Indio da Costa – will be exposed more than 75 pieces and projects seeking 40 design studios.

The sustainable wood will have a leading role, demonstrating the conscious choice and environmentally responsible of the creative minds of Rio.

Ring Expansão – design: Ana Berredo Joias (designer: Ana Berredo)

The ring is Expansão result of a partnership between jewelry and woodwork. The walnut has been chosen for its delicacy that favors the carving and durability, in addition to its excellent appearance. The wood used is recycled, as this is a Brazilian species threatened with extinction. The frame is silver 950. E ‘versions available in round, square and oval.

Luminaria PlampZ – design: Bolei Design (designer: Victor Lopes Mascarenhas)

The sustainability of the line of lights PlampZ, designed by Bolei Design, was designed in detail. Were used paper and pine reforestation Brazilian materials derived from natural renewable sources, processed by laser technology. The object is fully removable, to facilitate transport, in addition to reduce the waste of raw materials. The light source is LED, also guaranteeing minimum power consumption and longer life. Everything reducendo also the environmental impact of disposal.

Moiré table – design: O Formigueiro (designers: Caio Bahouth, Henrique de Mello Franco, Lucas Portes, Vinicius Mesquita)

The table Moiré, design agency O Formigueiro, simulates the effect that gives it its name. This optical illusion occurs when two elements are stacked, in this case, the two layers in straw, and is visible when the observer approaches the cabinet. Additionally, the foot of the table are a clear allusion to the brand study. The Moire is a piece that combines traditional materials and contemporary forms. And it is especially very Brazilian. Materials: reclaimed wood, natural straw and glass.

Voronoi Skateboard Organic – Design: Terravixta (designers: Bernardo do Amaral and Carina Carmo)

Made of wood, bamboo and carbon fiber falls skateboard Voronoi firmatoTerravixta, is unique, tailored to the user. Parameters such as weight, pressure zone and push type are considered to produce customized product that each technology and precision industry standards to hand finishing. Lightweight, is attractive thanks to unique and original designs for this area.
