The First A.I. Chair Design Was Created By Kartell And Philippe Starck – This year, with the help of one of the world’s best interior designers, they gave a step into the future of the interior design industry with their latest furniture design. This innovative product was presented to the public during Milan Design Week, at Salone Del Mobile. The presentation took place at Kartell’s booth and lasted around 30 minutes where Philippe Starck accompanied by Claudio Lutti presented this special dining chair while also explaining the concept behind it. The renowned furniture brand has researched industrial processes that could transform the designing process of a single product in order to be reproduced on a large scale using increasingly sophisticated molds. 2019 will always be remembered as one of the biggest moments of Kartell’s incredible history because this is the year where the incredible furniture brand has presented for the first time ever, the first chair design built with an Artificial Intelligence process also known as A.I. Chair Design.
In its 70 years of history, Kartell has interacted with mechanics in the implementation of industrial processes aimed at transforming a design into a product that can be reproduced on a large scale using increasingly sophisticated molds. This year the famous furniture brand in collaboration with the renowned designer and a leading producer of 3D engineering and entertainment software presented the first chair design in the world built with artificial intelligence!
“This is a research collaboration at the pinnacle of the industrial design world, resulting in one of the most creative outcomes we’ve ever tried to achieve with generative design”, said Mark David, senior director of design futures at AutoDesk. The chair designed by Philippe Starck represents one of the biggest turning points in the interior design industry!

A.I. is a contemporary dining chair developed through an algorithm that respects the original brief created by the renowned French designer and Artificial Intelligence by AutoDesk. From the first idea all the way down to the final product, the team took 2 years to develop this project which mission is to surpass the human mind by speeding up the design process of an item. 
“When Philippe gave me his idea and the results of his work done in collaboration with Autodesk, I immediately accepted the challenge of starting an industrial production on a project that for the first time was not born of our direct relationship or the dialectic between me and him in these thirty years of collaboration”, explained Claudio Luti, President of Kartell at the AI formal presentation. The innovative dining chair features a structural strength and solidity requirements to ensure certification and respect the signature simple and clean style of Kartell.
“A.I. it is the first chair designed outside our brain, out of our habits and how we are used to thinking. And thus, a new world opens up to us. Unlimited.” (Philippe Starck). The A.I. Chair Design represents only the successful partnership between Kartell, Philippe Starck and American firm Autodesk, but also the future of the product design industry with the concept of “Natural Intelligence”, which according to Strack is the combination of artificial intelligence with human intelligence.
