December is just starting, but the holiday season is already in full swing on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C. The Obamas unveiled the decorations for their last holidays running the White House and this time, the First Family went bigger than ever, with a precious help from a team of LEGO Master Builders to construct the bulk of their environment-friendly decorations. Over 200,000 legos and 500 hours went into a whopping 200,000 LEGOS that form 56 LEGO gingerbread houses representing each U.S. state and territory in the State Dining Room and LEGO “gingerfriends.”

Of course, it wouldn’t be a White House Christmas without a gingerbread replica of the iconic government building and residence. No detail was overlooked in the construction of the gingerbread house, which required 150 pounds of gingerbread and 100 pounds of dough on the outside frame.

And the Obama’s dogs Sunny and Bo to interior shots of the White House which can be glimpsed from looking inside in the windows.

“As we celebrate my family’s last holiday season in the White House, I’m thinking back to when we first came here to Washington and we promised to open this house to as many people to as many backgrounds as possible,” said Michelle Obama while unveiling the tree.
