House Of Sandeman Hostel & Suites Has A Brand New Interior Design – The interior design of the Sandeman’s hostel, the famous wine brand that produces one of the best Porto Wine in Portugal, was created by a Portuguese interior designer. Catarina Cabral, a Portuguese interior designer was the author of the contemporary design of the Sandeman’s hostel in downtown Gaia. If you stay in this hospitality design project, that is located right next to the Douro river, you’ll be showered with amazing views of the beautiful Porto downtown as well as the famous D. Luis Bridge, while you enjoy a nice glass of fantastic Porto wine!

The interior designer develops her projects from scratch…From the architecture structure to the smallest details in the interior design, Catarina‘s portófolio includes residential, restaurant and hotel projects, that are quite popular in the country, like the Independente Hostel & Suites, The Decadente Restaurant & Bar and the Palácio Chiado.

After returning from Brazil, where she worked on a Portuguese architecture atelier, in Sao Paulo, Catarina Cabral founded her own design studio called Atelier Catarina in 2015, and a year later she was one of the nominees for the Wall Paper Design Awards.

Nowadays, her design studio has a team of 4 collaborators.

Porto is a city with a rich history and culture, so in the design project for the Sandeman’s Hostel, she wanted to create something that celebrated the true essence of the city. The House of Sandeman Hostel & Suites celebrates one of the greatest Port Wine brands in the world, right on top of the river Douro, in one of the city’s most iconic and historic buildings.

Inspired by the incredible taste and history of Sandeman’s Porto wine, the interior design of new space is irreverent and comfortable, at the same time. They share bedrooms were designed with authentical wine cellars structure and the Sandeman cellars are on the lower floor. The “vindima” (which translated means grape harvest) baskets serve as lighting for the room decor.

In the large entrance hall of the staterooms, the ancient stone arches are decorated with typical “ramada” of grapes, with natural light and the mythical Don (Sandeman’s brand figure) in the background. Thanks to the contemporary design created by the interior designer, the whole atmosphere is relaxed and sophisticated. A nice combination of modern details and vintage pieces.
