Proud to take a holistic approach to design, Daminato is a multi-disciplinary firm that specializes in the built environment, operating in Singapore. Their projects are fully managed from the overall design concept stage through to the detailing and design of bespoke furniture, light fittings, textiles and objects. They have also designed some furniture to fit in with some of their interior projects.
Their style ranges from contemporary to classical, but they maintain a clean, tidy and minimal look overall, combined with an abundant use of wood throughout surfaces and furniture. These aesthetics carry a sense of Japanese discipline, discarding unnecessary properties, and fusing them with a Nordic housing fashion. As one would expect, each project is still tailored to fit in with the unique desired requirements, while also striving for a timelessness of spirit, and above all a well thought-out and detailed environment , with a sense of classicism.
A great example of this is their Twin Palms Presidential Suite. Traditional sculptural elements enrich the space and stand out among the clean surroundings. The black wooden surfaces give it a warm feeling and contrast with the white walls to better define the shape of the room.
Another of Dominato’s work that is worth mentioning is the Aman resort, a series of lodges across the central and western valleys of Bhutan, one of the most remote and pristine environments on earth. Again, a modern yet warm space is the result that the wood-paneled interiors along with contemporary furniture provide. Interior design scope also included design and detailing of all loose and fixed furniture items, light-fittings throughout, bukharis (fireboxes), textiles, staff uniforms and floor rugs.
