Tortona Design Week is a project based on coordination and communication, the event parallel to Salone Internazionale Del Mobile 2013, happens in the same dates from 9th to 14th April.
Its aim is to show the best of the alternative design and the work of the new designers, giving a governance to the area, valuing its content, giving it the best accessibility.
Here are the top 20 showrooms in Tortona Design Week and some of the shows they will receive.
The Super Studio 13 – Freedom design at via Forcella 13, wil receive Ana Fatia, a portuguese designer. Superstudio13 is the location of top fashion photography, the first and most famous complex of shooting studios, exhibitions, catwalk shows, presentations.

Mother Mine & All of Us designed by AnaFatia is a collection of furnitures inspired by human anatomy with the reflection of my own identity, in the form of a simple fragment wounded, yet vital, from my structure as a woman – a unique enclosure where all human beings are formed and bred.
Also in Super Studio 13 is Agorà Design, the historical event for Salento design, presents both consolidated local companies, young designers, architects and craftsmen, in continuous exchange of contacts, experiences and ideas.
And Betty, by Elena Rogna is a snaky stool inspired by Betty Boop, the famed cartoon character of the nearly-roaring Thirties. Stool Betty reminds of the heels of that early, a bit funny pin-up, and of every curvy line of her stiletto shoes. Betty is an everyday object, and even a sculpture: its legs have a modernist flavour, the seat on the other hand is stubby and rounded.
Located in Via Tortona 31 is Showroom 31 a prestigious showroom placed inside the Opificio31 that will receive Barbara Abaterusso.
Barbara Abaterusso’s interior design will show items that recall a feminine and past world, but up-to-dated in their elegance of lines, colours and materials matching. Woolen and cotton yarns are combined with iron and bronze in unexpected embroideries for creative furnishing and artistic works.

Located in Via Tortona, 27 Superstudio Più is a modern, poly-functional and versatile multi-location, a huge space available to the city and to important international events – created to meet the needs of the most vital operators and creative people working in the overlapping fields of fashion, art, design, communication, culture and entertainment.

Showing their projects in Superstudio Più is Del Tongo Machine with An installation between real and virtual worlds. Kitchen parts are used to activate a syncronized mechanical system which opens a symbolic window onto Del Tongo’s world. An audiovisual loop virtually and phisically explaining the building process of a 100% italian kitchen.

Also in Superstudio Più is Caverna Nirvana, a project presented by Cotto presents a parallel world, the equilibrium between body and oriental soul. Amid the combination of nature and technology has born an innovation, which is formed through the gradual accumulation of sediment. Its beauty leads the road to where the past meets the present.
Showing up at Officina 1, located in Via Tortona 31 is DoNuts, a project by Dirk Wynants, is a table/chairs combination in the form of an inflatable doughnut-shaped seat for six. DoNuts is easy to move about, it is strong and it comes in different colours, models, and weather-resistant fabrics.
In their brand new 1700 sq. mt. showroom – Area 56, located at Via Savona 56, Moooi offers visitors a collection of new trends in design. An ample, stylish area dedicated to colour and elegance, dynamically used to present new brand products by design avant-gardes and art exhibitions.
Located in Via Novi 5, Officine Della Torneria is 400 sq.m wide exhibition space was obtained from an art workshop and it’s still partially active.
This will be the temporary showroom of Studio Frederik Roije and their three items made in Holland: coffee table Tablefields, realized out of single metal sheet and ash tree legs; Wall of Flame, a classical-inspired chandelier; and Little Triple Chair, a highlight of how much reading is worth for children, it is a chair and a support to draw and play on.
In Nhow Milano, Via Tortona 35, will be presented Revolution and renovation begin in the new bar area by Karim Rashid. And also: ASPIN, Deluxe Dreaming Milano presents Cracking Art Group + Dry Design + Logico Design + Umbrosa, Fiore Milanesi, Franco Guarneri, GlocalDesign by Daniele Basso, Hildesign, InEmotion, IOriciclo TUricicli, Karim Rashid (Base Srl, Illulian, Martela), Out of Mido, Mazda, MAAM Fondazione Aldo Morelato, Michele Chiocciolini, MOMODESIGN, Torino & Piemonte Design Attitude.
