The retro design project was created by Kathy Anderson and features the iconic elements that are associated with the studio’s history, like the “RCA Victor” sign out front for all to see, thanks to the help of the preservationist, Aubrey Preston.
Some of the country’s greatest musicians, like Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, and Charley Pride recorded at the new RCA Studio A before the independent studios expanded into the area. “What we’re talking about is paying homage to the environment that Chet [Atkins] and Owen [Bradley] envisioned when they built this, and when they worked here,” explained Aubrey Preston.
The mid-century modern design project cost $500 000 and subsumed the original office space, the co-working space, and a smaller music studio. Besides the incredible mid-century furniture designs, the famous Nashville studio features a new 60s style terrazzo floor in the lobby. The good news is that today, anybody can record in the hallowed rooms of iconic RCA Studio A.
